Tattoo aftercare involves keeping the tattoo clean and protected while it heals. This includes washing it regularly, avoiding picking at it, and using fragrance-free products

What to do

  • Wash: Wash the tattoo gently with a product made for tattoos at least twice a day. 

  • Moisturize: Use a fragrance-free moisturizer after the tattoo is completely dry such as Aquaphor or A&D ointment 3-5 days then switch to a non-scented natural moisturizer or your choice. (Lubriderm,Aveeno,Cetaphil)

  • Protect from sun: Use a zinc-free sunblock once the tattoo is fully healed. 

  • Wear loose clothing: Avoid tight clothing that rubs against the tattoo. 

  • Drink water: Drink plenty of water to keep your skin hydrated. 

What to avoid

  • Picking: Don't pick, scratch, or peel the tattoo. 

  • Perfumes: Avoid using perfumed soaps or lotions on the tattoo. 

  • Hot water: Don't soak the tattoo in hot water or pools until it's fully healed. 

  • Abrasive materials: Don't wear jewelry or shoes that rub against the tattoo. 

  • Direct sunlight: Avoid exposing the tattoo to direct sunlight until it's fully healed.
